    CDI Sponsors IPD Organisational Development Adviser

As part of our continuing program of collaboration with Indonesia’s Institute of Peace and Democracy in Bali (IPD), CDI has recently recruited Ms Sarah Jones to work as an Organisational Development Adviser to IPD. Ms Jones began a year-long assignment in this capacity in November 2011. She is based at the IPD headquarters in Bali and is providing advice and mentoring support to IPD as it manages an expanding program of donor-funded activities.

Specifically, Ms Jones works to help IPD:

  • Enhance its business, program and quality management systems;
  • Identify and plan for its organisational and staff development needs;
  • Enhance its approach to program and activity delivery;
  • Identify and implement IPD institutional strengthening activities;
  • Support the implementation of IPD programs and activities, working alongside IPD colleagues to provide advice on good program management practice; and,
  • Identify and support joint CDI/IPD research, training projects and organisational development initiatives

Ms Jones is an experienced development practitioner who has managed development assistance projects in Indonesia and East Timor.

The Centre for Democratic Institutions (CDI) is a government-funded body that supports the efforts of new democracies in the Asia-Pacific region to strengthen their political systems. It provides training, technical assistance and peer support for parliamentarians and emerging leaders in Southeast Asia and the South Pacific, with a particular focus on Indonesia, Timor-Leste, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Fiji.

The Australian Government established CDI in 1998. It is funded primarily by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID). One of the primary ways in which CDI works to promote democracy is through strengthening parliamentary governance and political parties. The Centre focusses on parliamentary and political party development, and conducts flagship training courses and policy-relevant research on these subjects.
